12-bedroom A frame log sided 5000 square foot chalet that
sleeps up to 54 people, with parking for 8 or more cars. (Buses are not able to park here.)
All the bedrooms, living room and dining room are each decorated with its own theme: gone fishing, gone camping, duck hunting, bears, deer, eagles, foxes, wolves, bird watching, and more -- all reminders that you are only one and a half miles from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
Ever dread sleepless nights from cheap mattresses when you go on vacation? This cabin has comfortable pillow-top mattresses on all beds except bunks.
Listen to the gurgling creek from every room in the chalet. Watch the bears saunter through the woods. The kids will love catching salamanders and skipping stones in this natural mountain creek . Or, they can play on the outdoor fort/swingset. You can picnic by the creek or relax on the Deck that features two grills, a large smoker, patio furniture, and a Tiki Bar that opens out to a log sided Hot Tub that
will seat 6 or swim in the 19 foot hot tub/pool right off the deck. Inside are two Game Rooms-an adult game room with a new log pool table, or the kiddie game room with air hockey table, foosball table, PlayStation II and Nintendo 64 game systems (and games for each), toys, plus movies and DVDs for all ages.
Stephen's Sanctuary has been newly remodeled, with lots of wood interior, new paint, new leather and tapestry bedspreads, handmade quilts, furniture and accessories. There are two levels with 3 front entrances, with the windows of one entrance having hand painted scenes depicting Smoky Mountain adventures. There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor, 9 bedrooms on the second floor, and a total of 8 full baths and 2 half baths.
The first entrance takes you through custom carved patio doors depicting bears and deer, into a queen bedroom with a TV and decorated in an "Elk" theme with new log and bark furniture and a leather and tapestry bedspread with moose and elks. A Full Bath with a Jacuzzi serves this bedroom . It is across the hall and has a stacked washer/dryer. This bath is behind the kitchen.
The second entrance is from a covered parking area . This entrance takes you into a log-sided interior foyer with beautifully framed pictures and accessories in a "Gone Fishing" theme. There are two queen "Gone Fishing" bedrooms ("Gone Fishing I" and "Gone Fishing II"), each with a handmade gone fishing bedspreads, wood blinds, and TV. Both bedrooms are served by the gone fishing Full Bathroon with shower.
To the left of the foyer are the Living Room and a set of hand hewn log railed steps going to the second floor. The living room has two gone fishing sofa sleepers, hand painted frosted windows with Smoky Mountain themes, log furniture with gone fishing wallpaper borders, lamps and accessories. The two story A-frame living room has custom carved dear and raccon patio doors that go out to the deck and also open up into the log sided Kitchen with bark cabinets and countertops, and 30 x14 dining room and a second kitchen. You'll find lots of fishing collectibles, lures, fishing clocks, fishing bears, fish wallpaper and borders, fishing poles and lamps, pictures, paintings - even the two sofa sleepers have a gone fishing tapestry woven in the cushions. Two log rockers, a woodburning Stone Fireplace, two bark tables,
and a 35 inch TV with a combination VCR/DVD player complete the living room. A second-story log railed Balcony overlooks the living room.
The kitchen opens up into two bars with a total of 8 bar stools and a Dining Area with log tables seating 24 or more, in addition to a high chair. There are two kitchens, each with a stove, a refrigerator, and two microwaves. The kitchenette in the dining room opens out to the deck .
The dining room opens into a 14x32 tung and groove Game Room with a new log pool table (regulation size), various kiddie toys, a sofa sleeper and chair, and Half Bath. Upstairs from the new game room are two tung and groove bedrooms with cathedral ceilings. The "Gone Camping" room has two queen bunk beds that sleep 8, a TV, and a Full Bath with a Jacuzzi. Next to it is the "Duck Hunting" room that also has two queen bunk beds that sleep 8, a TV, and a Full Bath with Jacuzzi.
Next are 3 bedrooms reflecting the animals of the Smokies, each with its own theme, handmade bedspreads, wood blinds and handmade curtains. The "Moose Tracks" room has a king size pillow-top bed, with a moose theme bedspread, curtains and borders, a tv and a log dresser. Next to this bedroom is the "Foxes Den" that can sleep 5 with a queen pillow-top bed and a futon bunk bed with a TV . Next to this bedroom is the "Wolves Pack" - another queen/futon bunkbed room that sleeps 5. These bedrooms are served by Two Full Baths with tub showers, decorated in a woodsy pinecone and cabin theme.
Down the hall is the "Bird Watching" room - a darling A-frame queen bedroom with a TV and Half Bath that has lots of picket fences, bird's nests, spring flowers and pictures adorning the bedroom and bath. The "Bird Watching" room opens up to the balcony where you can overlook the living room or go down the steps to the living room and foyer.
Continue through the upstairs hall to the "Bear Necessities" room -- full of stuffed bears, bear pictures, borders and collectibles. This king bedroom has a leather and tapestry bear bedspread, a TV and a bear theme Full Bath with shower. It is A-framed and overlooks the creek.
Next are the upstairs game room, two more bedrooms and a Full Bath with Jacuzzi and shower that serves the two bedrooms: the "Eagle" bunkbed room with queen bunkbeds and a TV; and, the "Deer" room, which is another queen bunkbed room that sleeps 4 and has a TV.
Stephen's Sanctuary loves kids! There is an outdoor fort,swingset, basketball goal, and riding toys for the kids to play on.
All of guests have access to 3 Chalet Village Club Houses with swimming pools.
Stephen's Sanctuary is perfect for family reunions, wedding parties, church or corporate retreats. Stephen's Sanctuary is named after our youngest son, Stephen.
